Where's Terry?
Where in the world are candidate Terry Branstad and former Governor Terry Branstad?There's only one place in Iowa you can be certain you won't find either Terry: any place where the other Republican gubernatorial candidates are.
Today, Branstad skipped out on an important forum at the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Summit, where Rants, Roberts, and Vander Plaats managed to appear.
“This is typical Terry,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Michael Kiernan. “He thinks that if he avoids answering the questions about his record, no one will notice. But, we do notice when he puts his attempt at a political comeback before talking about job creation for Iowans."
While candidate Branstad enjoys taking cheap political shots at the Republican candidates in the race from the sidelines, Governor Branstad knows he can't risk being challenged on his record. It’s clear both Terrys think the ticket to victory is staying out of the same room as the other candidates.
Perhaps the duck and cover strategy was a campaign decision after his disastrous debut at the Republican Party of Iowa Liberty Dinner. Still, its pretty dangerous for a candidate who's making wild promises about job creation to ignore a forum on green jobs -- perhaps Iowa's largest growth industry.
