TERRY BRANSTAD: DEBATE DODGER?

Bob Vander Plaats is now calling Branstad out for his unwillingness to debate his sordid sixteen year record.  The call to debate was written about by the Sioux City Journal last week.

"…the topic at hand is on Republicans seeking to win the gubernatorial bid in the June primary. Three-time candidate Bob Vander Plaats this afternoon challenged four-time Gov. Terry Branstad and State Rep. Rod Roberts of Carroll to four debates.

“Vander Plaats doesn’t overlook the town of his residence, as he proposes Sioux City among the debate sites, along with Davenport on the east, Des Moines in central Iowa and another city to be agreed upon by the men. Vander Plaats said he appreciates the opportunities over recent months to appear in venues with Roberts, but now it is time for Branstad “to step up, join me on the same stage at the same time” and debate issues.

“Vander Plaats is coming of the heels of two events two days ago when 2008 presidential candidate Mike Huckabee stumped — and raised money — for him. Vander Plaats was on Huckabee’s team in 2008, now Huckabee has returned the favor with multiple appearances, including up near Lake Okoboji in summer 2009 (which is, of course, the place to be in summer)."

Why won’t Branstad debate?  If he's going to snub the voters of his own party, just imagine what he'll do to the rest of us.
