Iowa Knows Better

Bob Vander Plaats

Bob Vander Plaats declares himself a member of the "uncompromising" part of the Republican Party. Whether discussing running mates or the economy, he opposes moderates on both sides of the aisle no matter what. But, Iowa knows better, and his negative approach to the state and our communities will lose again and again.

His negative and over the top rhetoric speaks for itself. Here are just a few more highlights of Bob Vander Plaats "vision" for Iowa:

  • Claims that Iowa is not economically competitive, when we have the fourth best business climate and the eighth fastest growing economy in the United States.[1]
  • Explained that moderate Republicans make voters "want to vomit", like "Jesus felt of lukewarm followers."[2]
  • Wants to get rid of all federal government run health care, including "opting-out" Iowans from Medicare and Medicaid.[3]

Bob Vander Plaats is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for Governor, beating other announced candidates by over 15 points. He is in a dead heat with Terry Branstad. When Vander Plaats announced his third campaign for governor, he declared he was "going after Chet Culver." But Iowans know better.
